This ‘n’ That

Just a bit of catch-up waffle…

It’s been a funny old week, with some small dramas…as I briefly said in my entry the other day, my little 2 yo Grandson sliced the top of his thumb off with a very sharp vegetable peeler, and ended up in hospital. They stuck it back together with steri-strips (“cherry trips”, as he calls them ~ bless!) and it seems to be healing nicely. There was a worry that he might lose the tip of his thumb, but hopefully not (please pray!)

Then my husband had to make a mercy dash to the vets with my Mother’s cat, who was bringing up rather a lot of blood…turned out he had an abcess in his mouth which had burst, and he had to have the offending tooth extracted (they had to give him a double dose of sedation before he would even let the vet look in his mouth!). But, £220 later (which my husband paid ~ the cause of some major disgruntlement between my Mother and I!!) he is none the worse for wear, and should make a full recovery.

And I am ill, again  some kind of nasty lurgy which has left me feeling wiped out, chesty, sore throat, bunged up and achey all over. I have that pale, washed-out, dark-shadowed-eyes, hollow-cheeked consumptive kind of look ~ not attractive! But I am trying to approach this in a different way…trying to stay positive, and see what blessings might be in this. Particularly prayer ~ often when I am ill, and not able to do much, I find prayer really flows, and I can use the time to pray for others. It takes the effort of turning my focus away from self and how I feel and getting off my pity-pot, but it is so worth it! Feeling more positive already now I’ve said that ~ perhaps I should dare to thank God for allowing me to be ill, despite waking in the night barely able to swallow or breathe! At least I get to have yummy Covonia cough medicine!

So, these are my “little drops of sunshine” today…

  • The sun is shining
  • My washing is dry
  • I have a lovely cup of coffee sprinkled with nutmeg
  • I have talked to my best friend, Jesus, today!
  • I have so many lovely friends
  • God is good!
  • Because I am ill, I have more time to meditate
  • It gives me time to stop and smell the flowers

Hope you are better soon! Get some spirullina. Your Mum shoudlbe grateful about the Bill – such is life.

btw offering up and spending time in prayer os such a good way to look at illness.
