10 honest things about me…

I picked this up from UKOK’s Place ~ many thanks!

To keep this award, I must do the following:

1) Say thanks and give a link to the presenter of the award.
2) Share “ten honest things” about myself.
3) Present this award to 7 others whose blogs I find brilliant in content and/or design, or those who have encouraged me.
4) Tell those 7 people that they’ve been awarded HONEST SCRAP and inform them of these guidelines in receiving it.

So, here goes!

  1. I am a total home-bod, and happiest in my kitchen. If you read my Life on the Home Front blog, you will already know this! I love donning my pinny and spending a whole afternoon baking, and get a kick out of doing housework. There is nothing more satisfying than licked clean plates and a hoovered carpet at the end of the day. Some say life’s too short to dust, but like Br. Lawrence, I try to make my home-keeping into a prayer!
  2. I have a fear of clowns, ever since being frightened to death by one at a school event when I was 5. It has got a bit easier as I have got older, but they still give me the creeps, especially the ones with frizzy orange hair, white faces and big red evil grins…
  3. When I was 11, before even being Catholic, I wanted to be a Nun, after watching “The Song of Bernadette”. God chose another vocation for me but I am still attracted to the Monastic life, and live it out through being a Benedictine Oblate and being consecrated to Mary through the Crusade of Mary Immaculate.
  4. My most favourite food ever is…cheese…too much isn’t good for you, so I try to ration it, but have to eat a little bit every day. My favourites are Sage Derby, Lancashire and Shropshire Blue. Yum yum!
  5. I love to pray! I pray the shorter morning and evening prayer each day, or pray from the Bendictine Breviary. My favourite prayer is the Rosary, and the Glory Be chaplet of St. Therese. I sleep with my Rosary in my hand and another under my pillow! Talking to God is the greatest privilege I can imagine, and praying to Mary is the greatest comfort.
  6. My greatest vocation is being a wife, mother and grandmother. Through these things my life has been blessed beyond imagining. I would love to be a stay-at-home wife, but have to work part-time in order for us to survive! But part-time is good ~ the rest of the week, I get to be a SAHW!
  7. I have a degree in Creative Arts, majoring in drama and creative writing. The creative writing comes out in poetry, and one day I intend to have them published ~ perhaps when I retire and have more time! (12 years to go :D )
  8. I love strong coffee, and going to Costa. Everyone should go to a coffee shop at least once a week! It’s my chill out time, and I always drop by for a coffee on my way home from work on a Wednesday and sit reading the Times and watching the world go by. It helps me keep my sanity.
  9. I wear a head scarf to Mass as I have recently been convicted of the need to veil. You can read more about that here: Taking the Veil
  10. Here are some of the things in life which make me feel happy: Jesus; clean washing blowing on the line; curling up in front of the fire on a winter’s evening with a good book; foreign films with subtitles;  cookery programmes; bubble baths; books about the Tudors; being Catholic; fluffy bed-socks; Italian food; coffee and chocolate; baking cakes; paddling in the sea; going to Mass; retreats; time spent with my family; writing; my friends!; art and music; following God’s will; Our Blessed Mother; early mornings in summer; crisp sunny winter days; sunsets; thunderstorms; flowers; the smell of baking bread and fresh ground coffee; blogging!; Saints…and lots more!

This was fun! Instead of tagging individuals, I am going to say as UKOK did that if you want to do this, go ahead, and leave a comment with a link :)

So interesting to find so much in common…how can one live without praying??!! The Chaplet of Mercy is one of my favorites as well as the rosary.
Have come across so many people who have a fear of clowns, even my sweet step daughter fears them…so sad that something happened to cause what should be a funny thing to become a scary thing!
Think we share ALL the same favorites (isn’t that nice?), except I love the smell and not the taste of coffee.

    blessings and hugs,

I had trouble thinking of what to say for this one. Yours is so interesting! I dislike clowns as well. I used to run from mimes, but I’m okay with them now. LOL I love sparking clean bathrooms and doing laundry…weird, huh. ; ) Cleaning makes me happy as well. Thanks for sharing so much.

Lovely post Mrs P ~ the Glory Be chaplet of St. Therese sounds divine in every sense. Could you let me have the words and format for that?? Do you use a rosary or chaplet beads to pray it??

    Thanking you in anticipation.

    Every blessing

Love and prayers to you and yours.

I gave this meme a go myself, my results aren’t quite as uplifting as yours, but I was honest…
